Christmas display (round tube)
Making a Christmas decoration can be very satisfactory. It makes the celebration much more personal (and less expensive) and you can use materials from previous years in a way they look totally new. Have also a look at Christmas Wreath for another inexpensive and easy way to make a Christmas decoration.
What you need:
- Hoop(s) (2 dollar shop, comes in a small package and needs to be assembled) or rubber tube or hose (approx. 1.5 cm) for drainage or irrigation (25 m for $8.00 at Mitre Ten or Hammer
Hardware shop) - Colored ribbon or paper
- Tape
- Christmas decorations (new or old ones from previous years)
- Some green from trees (optional)
What to do:
Assemble the hoop to create a circle. If you use a rubber tube or hose: cut off the length needed. Cut off another 10 cm and cut the little piece open with knife or scissors then push it over both ends of the first piece to make a circle. I used a hoop from the 2 dollar shop and cut strips of used gold-colored wrapping paper 3 cm wide to cover the hoop.
Making these displays took me 2 hours
I used silver decoration with a white dove to decorate the golden circle. Another idea emerged when my partner showed me some green branches with lovely red berries in our garden. I
The second hoop I wrapped in red paper and used some silvery and gold-colored Christmas bags to adorn the hoop. As you can see: the list can go on forever. Whatever you hang into the hoop, it will look fantastic and a few hoops hanging from the ceiling with Christmas decorations in the same theme will make quite an impression.
